Throwback Thursday! Film days

Throwback Thursday!

Throwback to the good ol' film days. Film? *gasp* What's film?

A while back I shot this beautiful cool toned image for Jezebel Magazine. To this day, it is still one of my favorite photographs. I miss film and all its' delicate complexities. Don't get me wrong, digital is amazing in its own right but there is something about film that you just can't match.

Title Boxing

 Pumping up the Adrenaline!

I recently shot on location for Title Boxing during a training session. Moving in between punching bags with my camera and weaving around these talented kickboxers as they jabbed, cross hooked and front kicked the bags was a sight to be had!

It was exhilarating to go inside the ring and photograph a sparring session. I think I even learned a few things watching from behind my lens.

Throwback Thursday!

Here is an image I shot many years ago during film days.  It was one of those great surprises.  It was dark, time was running out, and I just told the model to hold still and I dragged the shutter for what seemed like eternity. The magazine I shot for was skeptical but I find that when I am in the moment, this is my best work. I have built trust with many of my clients and they know to give me my moment to "try" something.

I do miss that little imperfections that the film Scotch 1000 had!

Tribute to a Fashion Icon: Oscar de la Renta

Tribute to a Fashion Icon
Oscar de la Renta

"A runway is spectacle. It's only fashion when a woman puts it on."

Paying tribute to Oscar de la Renta, who passed early this week. A fashion genius since the 1950's, Mr. De la Renta dressed some of America's leading first ladies and was known as the "Red Carpet King." Staying current and creating one-of-a-kind pieces, he was always surprising the fashion world with his elegant and eye catching styles.

Oscar de la Renta not only inspired many young designers but also inspired some of my fashion photography. The fashion icon knew how to grab attention and kept you wanting more.

"Being well dressed hasn't much to do with having good clothes. It's a question of good balance and common sense." -Oscar de la Renta

You will be missed!

LATEST BEAUTY SHOOT!

I recently had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful young woman in my latest beauty shoot.

I wanted to capture the vibrant and lush colors of her lips and eyes. Using subtle shadowing I brought out the delicate angles of her cheekbones and nose.

Great pops of color grab your attention while daring lines create a dramatic story.
Just can't take your eyes off this exquisite young lady!

Throwback Thursday!

This is from years back, the photo is of Kemp Muhl, a face of present day Maybelline, girlfriend of Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon! I started shooting her at 14, and recognized her amazing qualities right away-which included modeling, but also poetry and just a wise beyond her age personality. She has that "something".

A Little Taste of What I've Been Up To

Over the last month I've been shooting portraits of people in their beautiful homes right here in Chicago. Related Realty wanted to use the real people who live in these marvelous homes for their ads. I can't show the others just yet, but I wanted to provide a taste of what I was up to, hope you enjoy!

Ad Work for Mario Tricoci!

During the fall of 2013 I shot the web, print, and billboard ad images for Mario Tricoci hair salon. It was a great opportunity and an incredibly fun shoot. I'm excited to announce that they're now live! If you live in the Midwest you might have the opportunity of seeing one of the billboards. If you manage to see one, take a snapshot with Instagram and let me know (@lisasciascia).

Please take a moment and check out a whole bunch of new work on my website!
